'Mr & Mrs Smith' director Doug Liman is attempting to do what other moviemakers have failed to do - bring Russell Crowe and Nicole Kidman together on the big screen.
The filmmaker who brought Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie together is determined to net pregnant Kidman and her fellow Antipodean Oscar winner for his new movie 'Fair Game'.
He wants the pair to play man and wife.
Liman wants Crowe to play politician Joe Wilson and Kidman his CIA agent wife Valerie Plame in the political thriller.
The director says: "If you've met Joe, he's a really strong guy and I've never met an actor stronger than Russell Crowe."
The couple almost came together on the big screen in Australia, but delays and script problems prompted Crowe to quit the project. He was replaced by Hugh Jackman.
